Winter storm Donavan hits northern and central US, leaving traffic hampered
The United States of America was hit by a powerful winter storm called Donavan. It has already caused traffic difficulties on major highways in the northern and central parts of the country.
According to The Weather Channel, on December 26, the snowstorm hit the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming. In addition, the warning for locals noted that the amount of precipitation in these states could reach 150 metres.
"Wind gusts will reach 60 miles per hour (up to 96 km/h - Ed.)," the forecast says.
It is noted that as a result of the bad weather, oversized vehicles were forced to turn back, and some cars were involved in accidents. The storm is expected to last until December 27, but in the near future, the storm zone will cover a large area of the United States.
In some areas, icing of roads, trees and power lines has already been reported. As a result, problems on highways, as well as difficulties in the operation of airports and railways are expected.
