Why free ice cream is massively distributed on cruise ships
Dara Tucker, who goes by the name @darastarrtucker on TikTok, explained the creepy reason why cruise lines throw free ice cream parties for passengers on board. In a 1-minute and 24-second video with more than 2.9 million views, the former cruise singer, who lived on a ship in the Mediterranean and Caribbean, argued that ice cream parties don't just equate to a sweet celebration and a brain freeze.
The crew uses ice cream to make room for bodies in the freezer, usually, there is room for 5-7 bodies, but often there are more deaths. The fact is that traveling on cruise ships is a hobby of the elderly. The main target audience for such a vacation is men and women over 75. They tend to die suddenly for any reason: from stress, heat, large amounts of alcohol, or simply old age. This was reported by nypost.com.
"If more than seven people died on this particular ship, they would have had to start moving the bodies to the freezer, which meant they needed to make room in the freezer, so they would have to pull out a lot of ice cream and other frozen goods to make room for additional bodies," a former employee of one of the cruise ships says in the video.
Despite this, cruise lines are required by law to have body bags and a morgue for passengers who die during a cruise. The size of each morgue depends on the size of the ship, but they can usually hold three to four bodies. However, when the morgue is exhausted, the question arises as to what to do with the rest of the dead bodies.
Cruise ships have morgues, which are refrigerated stainless steel rooms with shelves where bodies are stored either until the end of the voyage or until they can be disembarked at the port of call and returned home.
Mortuaries are usually located on the lower decks of ships near the storage areas for food, alcohol, and various shipboard supplies.
Many TikToker users didn't believe Tucker's claims about the freezer, but several experts from the overseas industry quickly backed her up.
"There's a cruise ship doctor here. I can confirm the correlation between the morgue and ice cream," wrote Corey L. Bucker, who goes by the handle @cbuckc21 on TikTok.
