Where families will go for vacation and who stays in the UK: survey
A survey commissioned by the Novotel hotel chain aimed to determine the preferred vacation destinations in 2024. It involved 1000 participants, including children aged 6 to 16.
According to OnePoll.com, children expressed the most interest in visiting the United States and Spain, while adults tended to prefer staying in their home country. Additionally, young people also showed a preference for vacationing in the UK, ranking it third on their list of preferences, as reported by The Mirror.
Both adults and children believed that Italy and Greece deserved to be in the fifth position on the list of vacation destinations.
For children, more distant vacation spots like Australia, Dubai, and Japan ranked higher than for their parents.
Portugal, Germany, or Ireland topped the list for young people.
Both older and younger generations showed a preference for staying in hotels for their vacations, with 45% of adults and 54% of children expressing this preference.
Quality family time was identified as the top priority for both generations, with 77% of parents and 80% of young people emphasizing its importance.
Half of parents expressed a desire to visit new places each year, while only 10% preferred returning to the same destination.
When planning a vacation, the majority (71%) emphasized the importance of child-friendly activities and creating new memories, while 58% sought relaxation.
Children cited spending time with family and relaxing after school as the main factors influencing their vacation choices (37%). Some aimed to make new friends (34%), while others simply wanted to sleep (24%).
During their next vacation, the majority of children (61%) expressed a desire to visit a water park, 25% preferred water sports, and 43% planned to enjoy as much ice cream as possible.
Nearly half of adults (48%) considered a vacation lasting three to six hours to be ideal for a family trip.
Anaïs Dessales-Quentin, a representative of the Novotel hotel chain, commented that they found the survey results to be insightful.
"Through the perspective of children, we've come to understand that families seek meaningful experiences with their loved ones," she said.
