Underrated Spanish town has 'one of the best beaches in the world' and great food
Vacations in Spain have already become a hit among tourists looking for sun, sea, and sand. However, there is an underrated city that is home to one of the best beaches in the world.
When it comes to vacations in Spain, after sun and sand, Brits have their favorite spots like Benidorm or the Canary Islands, but there's one city that's often forgotten. San Sebastian is by no means a hidden gem, but it is rarely at the top of the list when British tourists plan their summer vacations. This was reported by dailystar.co.
There are many incredible bars, restaurants, and beautiful sandy beaches. San Sebastian has a fascinating beach, La Concha, which was recently ranked third in the ranking of the most beautiful beaches in the world by Tripadvisor.
La Concha boasts beautiful golden sands and clear, swim-friendly water. One happy vacationer wrote on Tripadvisor: "La Concha beach in San Sebastian is simply spectacular: its long coastline, crystal clear water and the charm of the surroundings make it an incomparable place to relax and enjoy the sea, one of the best city beaches in Europe."
Another added: "The beach has a phenomenal promenade! At any hour and any day, it's gorgeous! The sand is so soft and clean, the water is clear, turquoise, the atmosphere is great! One of the most positive environments and a place to recharge your batteries!"
However, this is not the only beach to explore. Zurriola Beach is another popular spot where you'll find large sandy stretches and clear water.
Meanwhile, there is plenty to see and do in the resort town itself. One of the popular areas is the Old Town with its cobblestone streets, original boutiques, and pincho bars where you will find all the Spanish wines and tapas you could want. In fact, the city is known for its foodie scene, with many impressive restaurants to suit every budget - and the number of hidden gems you can stumble upon while traveling.
There are plenty of hiking trails in the area - Mount Urgull tends to be a particularly popular spot, as it's right in San Sebastian and offers incredible views of the city and the sea. Meanwhile, thanks to the city's location in Spain's Basque region, you can also strap on your hiking boots and head out on the great walks and trails that can be found in the mountainous surroundings.
Getting here from the UK is also quite easy, with airlines including British Airways offering direct flights, usually from London or Edinburgh. According to Skyscanner, you can find prices below £150 even during the peak summer months. As for accommodation, there are many budget options. You can find rooms from £38 per night, and Tripadvisor has a handy guide to the best cheap hotels in San Sebastian.
