Turkish Airlines Expands its Global Reach to Melbourne, Australia
Turkish Airlines, renowned for its extensive flight network, has recently announced a significant expansion by incorporating Melbourne, Australia, into its roster of destinations. This addition marks a notable milestone as the airline now connects to its 6th continent, further solidifying its status as the flag carrier flying to more countries than any other airline.
Scheduled to commence on 15 March 2024, Turkish Airlines will operate three weekly flights to Melbourne, its 346th destination across 130 countries. This new route not only enhances the airline's already impressive global footprint but also plays a pivotal role in boosting tourism and trade between Türkiye and Australia. The Istanbul-Melbourne route, transiting via Singapore, is poised to bring thousands of visitors annually, significantly contributing to the economic and cultural exchange between the two nations.
In a statement, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, emphasized the airline's commitment to expanding its global network. He remarked on the strategic importance of reaching Australia, a long-awaited destination, and expressed enthusiasm about bringing Turkish Airlines' acclaimed service quality to Australian shores. Bolat also highlighted the airline's future plans to increase flight frequencies and destinations within Australia.
The new route, supported by the Victorian Government and Melbourne Airport, is not just a win for Turkish Airlines but also for Melbourne, home to Australia's largest Turkish community and one of Victoria's major trading hubs. This development is expected to enhance Melbourne's connectivity to Europe, the Middle East, the Balkans, and Africa via Istanbul, thereby boosting opportunities in tourism, international education, business, and trade.
With special launch prices available for a limited period, Turkish Airlines is making it more accessible for travelers to experience the renowned Turkish hospitality and explore new horizons. The airline's future plans include organizing direct flights to Melbourne and other Australian cities, further strengthening the ties between the two countries and expanding its global footprint.
