Turkey aims to develop smart transportation infrastructure by 2028
The General Directorate of Highways has unveiled ambitious plans to improve Turkey's transportation infrastructure by introducing smart technology initiatives aimed at optimizing routes and increasing efficiency.
Referring to the institution's strategic plans for the coming years, the General Directorate highlighted the goals of these projects, including reducing travel time, improving road safety, and efficiently utilizing energy and existing road capacity, as reported by Daily Sabah.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu praised the strategic plan, saying that rapid progress enabled by technological development has led to changes in the transportation sector.
Emphasizing that efficiency, mobility, accessibility, and environmentally friendly practices are steadily increasing, and traveling is becoming much easier, Uraloğlu said: "Our country has become a leader in its region and has a voice in the world, as it deserves, by implementing the right transportation policies with the right investments over the past years."
Central to this effort is the creation of 18 centers for the deployment of intelligent transportation systems that facilitate seamless communication between cars and their surroundings. The completion of the Main Center for Intelligent Transportation Systems (AUSM) and the 13th Center of the Regional Directorate of Highways in Antalya marks important milestones in this endeavor.
