TUI has updated its luggage rules due to passengers' "interesting" preferences
TUI's luggage rules are changing after the vacation company researched the packing habits of the British and found that the country has some surprising vacation essentials.
Thus, TUI claims that it has had to increase the allowable weight in its baggage policy to accommodate tourists' needs during vacation. The travel agent and airline have increased the standard baggage allowance from 15 kg to 20 kg per passenger, as reported by the Daily Star.
"This research shows how much Brits like to take the comforts of home with them on vacation," said Phillip Iveson, TUI's Chief Commercial Officer. "That's why we've decided to increase the baggage allowance for TUI Airways to 20 kg as standard and add an extra 5 kg for guests staying at TUI BLUE, Holiday Village, and A La Carte hotels. With all that extra weight to play with, guests will have plenty of room to bring photos of their pets, plenty of tea bags, and even a loaf or two of sliced bread."
The fact is that, as it turned out, the British sometimes like to take some very strange things with them on vacation.
