TSA PreCheck® Expands to Include Families for Easier Travel
TSA PreCheck® now welcomes families with open arms, allowing children 12 and under to accompany their enrolled parents or guardians through the expedited security lanes, without additional requirements. This family-friendly policy aims to streamline the airport security process, making travel more accessible and stress-free for passengers of all ages.
For teens aged 13 to 17, access to TSA PreCheck® lanes is granted when traveling on the same reservation as a PreCheck®-enrolled adult, provided their boarding pass reflects the TSA PreCheck® indicator. This inclusion ensures that families can navigate airport security together, avoiding the separation and delays typical of standard screening lines.
However, minors traveling alone or without a TSA PreCheck®-eligible adult require their own TSA PreCheck® approval for expedited screening. It's also important to note that adults using gate passes for minor escorts must go through standard screening, as TSA PreCheck® benefits do not extend to gate pass holders.
This extension of TSA PreCheck® benefits to include younger travelers reflects the agency's commitment to facilitating smoother, more efficient security screenings for families. By accommodating the needs of traveling families, TSA is making strides towards a more inclusive and hassle-free travel experience. Travelers planning to utilize this convenience should check their eligibility and apply for TSA PreCheck® well in advance of their travel dates, ensuring a seamless journey for the whole family.
