Travel expert named a common mistake of British tourists booking a vacation in the Maldives
British tourists who want to enjoy a paradise vacation to one of the most popular island destinations, the Maldives, need to make sure they plan their trip carefully. Due to a number of common mistakes, a long-awaited vacation can turn out to be a waste of money due to stress and difficulties.
Travel expert Nadine shared her tips for booking hotels in the Maldives with the Daily Star. Travelers should be prepared for the fact that vacationing on the island is different from traveling to other resorts.
It is worth giving preference to hotels with the "All-inclusive" system
Hotels with free drinks and food may be more expensive, but the expert assures that it is worth it. The Maldives is not a place where tourists can walk to the supermarket near the bungalow and buy food.
Most likely, you will have to eat in expensive local establishments, which can hit your pocket even harder than the surcharge for the All Inclusive system.
Don't give up on the shuttle service
Since tourists often have to move between islands for excursions or airport trips, transfers are very important in travel planning.
The expert emphasized adding: "Since you don't have to think about public transportation or traffic rules like in other countries, many people don't think about transportation at all when it comes to vacationing in the Maldives. But in reality, thinking in advance about how you are going to get from island to island or on exciting excursions is crucial. You can't just call a taxi if your destination is on the other side of the Indian Ocean."
Tourists were advised to ask the tour operator what kind of transportation will be available and when it can be used.
