This UK city plans to spend £1 million to improve cycling and walking routes
Significant improvements to cycling and walking routes in Wolverhampton (UK) are set to take place from April next year as part of an overall £1.1 million plan to improve the region's active travel infrastructure.
Cabinet ministers intend to award a nine-month contract worth £287,499 to develop a bicycle and pedestrian path from Widnesfield to Darlaston, as well as a new active travel connection in the East Park area, BirminghamLive reports.
This programme is expected to result in a priority for walking, cycling and bicycling to improve connectivity between residents throughout the region, improve public health by allowing residents to walk, cycle and ride safely and conveniently, and reduce carbon emissions.
This strategy is designed to increase the number of trips and attract the attention of tourists who love an active lifestyle.
