The use of off-road vehicles was banned in a British town
Off-road vehicles and people drinking in public have been causing trouble in Rochdale - and now the city council has approved a plan to get them under control.
Rochdale Council's cabinet approved a Public Spaces Protection Order at its last town hall meeting, making it illegal to drink alcohol in public and to use motorized vehicles to cause trouble. If someone is caught in violation, they could face court proceedings or a £100 fine, the Manchester Evening News reports.
This comes after 326 incidents involving off-road vehicles such as motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs were reported in the borough between January and December 2023.
The Council's documents showed that the main problems with off-road vehicles are the loud noise they create, as well as the permanent damage caused to public places. In some cases, this has resulted in paths and parks being unavailable for public use due to damage.
As TravelWise reported, in Europe, new drivers will be required to open car doors with their right hand.
