The Indian carrier Zooom Air is returning to the skies after a six-year hiatus
The domestic carrier Zoom is set to resume operations in India, with the airline launching its flights on January 31, 2024.
The airline's first flight on the New Delhi-Ayodhya route used its Bombardier CRJ200ER aircraft, as Ayodhya has become a spiritual tourism destination in India, Business Line writes.
Founded in February 2017, Zoom Air faced a combination of successes and challenges during its peak, when it operated 12 routes with a fleet of five Bombardier CRJ100/200 aircraft.
However, the airline faced a temporary suspension of operations from July to December 2018 due to safety concerns raised by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Despite initial plans to relaunch in January 2019, the airline encountered challenges in the recovery process and eventually resumed operations in January 2023.
Zoom CEO Atul Gambhir said: "We are delighted to announce the relaunch of Zoom with services connecting Ayodhya and Delhi. Zoom aims to improve regional connectivity in India. The new flights aim to connect people, cultures, and regions to this spiritual center."
The company noted an increase in domestic air passengers in India, attributing this to factors such as low-cost flights, simplified booking systems, improved customer experience, and flexible scheduling. The company aims to align these elements to enhance the overall travel experience.
