The Costa del Sol is home to the beautiful Golden Mile, which is actually home to 28 miles of spectacular hotels and beaches on the Spanish playground for the rich.
There are places all over the world where the rich and famous like to spend their time. In the United States, they may go to the Malibu coast or to a house deep in the desert, away from prying eyes. Alternatively, some may travel to Europe and enjoy the delights of Monte Carlo or St. Tropez. Others looking for glamor and status can head to Spain and the famous Golden Mile of Marbella, an 18-mile stretch of coastline filled with modern hotels and restaurants, writes Express.
Like many famous cities and places, Marbella's Golden Mile began with one man. In this case, it was Prince Alfonso de Gauguinloy.
Yes, Mr. de Gauguinloy built the Marbella Club Hotel. "in 1976.
"It became a vacation spot for the local and not only the elite, many celebrities and royalty spent their vacations here. This area became popular, and, in turn, the development of the surrounding areas began," the experts explain.
Michelle Obama, Sylvester Stallone, and Jason Statham once came here for summer vacations.
The Golden Mile is so large that it is not a single section, but is divided into three zones, classified from A to C. Zone A consists of a number of hotels and restaurants, including the original Marbella Club Hotel next to the famous sands of the area.
Zone B is where the mile begins to move away from the coast and further into the mountains. As a result of the topographic change, the properties have more space between them, but remain close to the beach.
Zone C is where some of the larger houses and villas are built. Their distance from the more populated areas supposedly means that it is more private.
While the types of houses vary between regions, so do the prices, which can range from 500,000 euros to 35 million euros. Zone A is home to the cheapest real estate, while Zone C is the most expensive.
