In the Indian state of Gujarat, the country's first underwater tourism will be launched
The government of Gujarat, India, is poised to launch the country's first underwater tourism initiative. This innovative endeavor has been made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Gujarat and Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL). The objective is to offer tourists the opportunity to explore the stunning underwater world by showcasing the diverse marine wonders around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka, a city steeped in association with Lord Krishna.
A landmark in Indian tourism, the Government of Gujarat, in partnership with Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL), will spearhead the nation's inaugural underwater tourism project, set to commence by Diwali 2024. This pioneering initiative is anticipated to generate employment, attract investment, and boost tourism in the region. This was reported by timesofindia.indiatimes.com.
With the launch of this initiative, tourists will have the remarkable chance to dive up to a depth of approximately 100 meters into the sea in a submarine, offering an unforgettable experience of the marine life surrounding the island, believed to be the submerged city attributed to Lord Krishna.
Reports indicate that the submarine will weigh around 35 tons and will have the capacity to accommodate up to 30 passengers at a time, each with a window view. The vessel will be operated by two skilled pilots and a proficient crew. Submerged passengers will be treated to breathtaking views at a depth of 100 meters below sea level.
An official announcement is anticipated at the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, according to reports.
Saurabh Pardhi, Managing Director of Gujarat Tourism, stated that this unique project will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to tourism in Dwarka, renowned for its religious significance and the revered Dwarkadish Temple, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site.
