Sydney was named the "New Year's Capital of the World" for its amazing fireworks show. How it looked like
Australians are among the first to celebrate the New Year due to their location in the eastern part of the hemisphere. It is in Sydney where the celebrations around the world get off to a great start, and this year was no exception. Right after the chimes struck, thousands of fireworks lit up the sky over the island nation's capital.
The flashes formed intricate patterns that could be seen throughout the city. Videos were posted on social media. According to CNN, tens of thousands of aerial projectiles and pyrotechnic effects were planned for the fireworks show.
Flashes could be seen over the Sydney Opera House. Local authorities, who call their city the "New Year's Capital of the World," also set off 7,000 fireworks on the Sydney Harbor Bridge. The fireworks were launched at the same time, so they complemented each other.
Many people were taking photos and filming videos against the backdrop of colorful explosions in the sky that flew in all directions. The spectacle was amazing.
Some parts of the city, such as the water, offered the best view of the show. At that time, there were many ships in the harbor.
"As always, the city of Sydney was one of the first in the world to officially welcome 2024 with its traditional fireworks display," witnesses wrote.
