Scotland players and staff will get the most out of their Euro 2024 base camp near Mount Vancouver
The Obermuhle Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen will be the home of the Scottish Army for the duration of their stay in Germany. However, the trip may prove challenging for some games as Scotland are based in Bavaria, almost 400 miles from Cologne, where they will play their second group match against Switzerland.
But it's ideal for the tournament opener in Munich against Germany, just 55 miles away, meaning they can be at the Allianz Arena in less than an hour. This was reported by talksport.com.
The Obermuhle is a luxury five-star resort known for its cuisine, with rooms starting at 250 euros per night, making it a place for people with fine tastes. The same family has owned this place for 400 years, and there are many features that attract attention. There is a penthouse and a private spa, as well as a rooftop terrace with 180-degree mountain views, so there are plenty of places for Andy Robertson and company to relax.
But the main topic of conversation is the mountain. That's because it's called Mount Wank, which is sure to please Steve Clark and his team. The summit of this impressive part of the Esther Mountains is 1700 meters above sea level.
To get to the top, you need to use the Wankbahn cable car and it will cost you 29 euros, but once you reach the top, there is a restaurant called Wankstuberl that serves great Bavarian cuisine.
But above all, Scotland will start preparing for the Euro much closer to home. Clarke said that Tartan Army will spend a lot of time in Glasgow.
Speaking about this decision, he said: "We're going to be based in Glasgow. We are not going to go abroad. I think with the last Euro we felt a little bit distant, outside the country, we didn't feel like a nation. Of course, that was during Covid, so it was a little bit different. This time I think I want the guys to feel the mood of the country before they go to Germany. Also, a fantastic hotel, a great pitch, so we know exactly what we have. Home comfort. And then attack the tournament. That's what I want from the players. I want them to feel the mood of the nation before they go there, so that they go there knowing the magnitude of the tournament they are going to."
Scotland has the honor of opening the Euro against the tournament hosts, Germany.
Julian Nagelsmann's team will start the tournament as one of the favorites and will be hoping for a perfect start. They are based in Herzogenaurach, which means they have to travel twice as long to get to Munich for the opening match.
After that, Scotland's opponents have less travel time than the Army of Tartan. Switzerland is based in Stuttgart and will travel almost 200 miles less for the group clash.
Scotland will then meet Hungary in Stuttgart, and the Magyars will only have to travel 125 miles from Weiler im Algau, while Scotland will have to cover a slightly longer distance.
