RegioJet abandons traditional Prague-Croatia flight to connect with Ukraine
Czech rail passenger company RegioJet is discontinuing its four-year old Prague-Croatia service to focus on strategic connections to Ukraine. At the same time, the company will launch a bus service from Prague to Split, which will fill the void and run daily during the summer of 2024.
Prague Morning reports that this decision was announced by RegioJet CEO Radim Jančur. He said: "We are now prioritizing year-round connections with Ukraine."
It is reported that the first night flight will run from the Prague border to Chop and then to the Ukrainian city of Mukachevo. It is scheduled to depart in January 2024 and will run along a 37-kilometer section of standard gauge track.
It is noted that RegioJet does not have a license to operate in Ukraine, and therefore the new flight will be operated in cooperation with Ukrainian national carrier Ukrzaliznytsia.
Departure schedule:
- Prague Main Station at 21:38 - arrival at Chop station at 10:35
- Chop railway station at 17:30 - arrival in Prague at 05:07
