Quiet Europe: where to relax without the hustle and bustle of tourists
In 2024, the travel industry is booming, but many travelers are already looking for places to relax in a peaceful atmosphere. After a year of restrictions and instability, travel is becoming popular, but tourists often don't choose noisy places.
European resorts without crowds of tourists offer a different, more relaxed atmosphere. According to Travel Off Path, in 2023, Istanbul, Turkey, became such a city, with almost 20 million visitors.
Quiet corners of Europe underestimated by tourists:
1. Korcula, Croatia
Nowadays, Croatia has become one of the most popular destinations in Europe, and it seems that this flow of people will not stop in the near future.
In the summer, millions of travelers gather in such famous places as the historic city of Dubrovnik, the coastal city of Split and the beautiful island of Hvar.
If you're looking for a lesser-known destination in Croatia, check out Korcula. This island is only 2.5 hours away from Split by ferry and has a completely different atmosphere. It's much calmer and quieter, and the prices are very reasonable.
2. Amorgos, Greece
Amorgos is an ideal alternative to the more popular Greek islands such as Santorini and Mykonos, which are overcrowded and very expensive during the summer months.
Here you can enjoy the same wild landscape and white Greek villages, but in a relaxed atmosphere. This island is known for its beautiful beaches with crystal clear water, ideal for diving.
Amorgos is located on the eastern edge of the Cyclades Islands, which also include Santorini and Mykonos. However, due to the lack of an airport, it is less accessible than its famous neighbors.
The only way to get to Amorgos is by ferry. The distance from Athens by ferry is about 5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a ferry from the islands of Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos or Paros.
3. San Sebastian, Spain
Spain has even more tourists this year than ever before.
Many famous places like Barcelona and Malaga are crowded with tourists.
But on the north coast, there is a city called San Sebastian where you can relax without the crowds.
This city has beautiful beaches and a unique culture, and is an ideal place without the hustle and bustle of the city, but with a touch of the Basque culture.
La Concha Beach and Ondarreta Beach are a real paradise for beach lovers, where you can enjoy the sunshine and crystal clear waters of the Bay of Biscay.
The nearest airport to San Sebastian is Bilbao Airport (Aeropuerto de Bilbao), located about 100 kilometers from the city. After arriving in Bilbao, you can use a bus, train, or rental car to get to San Sebastian.
4. Ischia, Italy
Ischia is a wonderful island and an alternative to popular Italian destinations like Rome, the Amalfi Coast and Capri.
This wonderful island is located just an hour's ferry ride from Naples, but unfortunately most travelers prefer the neighboring destinations, which are undeniably charming but can be overcrowded and expensive in summer.
It is one of the main tourist destinations in Campania, Italy. Ischia is also known for its wine industry and traditional Italian cuisine. Ischia also attracts with its beautiful beaches, thermal baths, ancient castles and unique Italian cuisine right by the sea.
This island is not as small as it seems, so you will always find quiet places where you can relax from the crowds and enjoy the atmosphere of local life.
