Pokhara has been declared the official tourism capital of Nepal
According to reports, the Nepalese government recently declared Pokhara, located in the picturesque Gandaki province, as the Himalayan nation's premier tourism capital. This official proclamation took place during a special event held at Barakhi Ghat, located on the serene shores of the stunning Phewa Lake.
Although Pokhara has long been known as an important tourist destination, it was only recently officially recognized as a tourism capital after meeting the necessary criteria. This title is a significant achievement in the evolution of Pokhara, which confirms its status as a leading center of tourist activity," writes the Times Travel website.
According to Pokhara Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, the declaration has profound implications for Pokhara's global recognition. This recognition not only confirms Pokhara's existing appeal, but also sets the stage for further development and promotion of its unique offerings to travelers around the world.
In addition, it was announced that from Sunday, venues such as discos, nightclubs and live music venues in Pokhara will be allowed to operate throughout the night, providing expanded entertainment and leisure options.
Gandaki Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey said that various establishments, including bars, restaurants, spas, grocery stores and eateries located in key areas of Pokhara such as Lakeside, Prithvi Chowk, Mahendrapul and Chipledhunga will be able to continue their operations until 1am, provided they adhere to the set standards.
