Planes diverted and flights delayed in Dubai due to heavy rains
Adverse weather conditions in Dubai caused delays and cancellations at the international airport (DXB). It is reported that more than a dozen flights had to be diverted.
At least 13 planes were diverted to neighbouring airports, and some Emirates, flydubai and Etihad flights were delayed or cancelled. A DXB spokesperson told Khaleej Times.
Although the airlines are doing everything possible to minimize inconvenience to passengers, they recommend that tourists arrive at the airport in advance to have time to spare.
According to forecasts, rains of varying intensity will continue until Sunday but will be concentrated only over the northern and eastern parts of the country.
The weather is expected to gradually improve only by Sunday evening, with dry Monday.
Passengers planning to travel to the UAE are advised to follow weather updates and flight status.
"We are monitoring the situation and will work to get our passengers to their destinations as soon as possible. Emirates apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be jeopardized," Emirates told Khaleej Times.
As previously reported by TravelWise, in March 2024, the weather will start to warm up in many parts of the world, so it's time for you to choose a destination.
