Newcastle Airport opens new premium restaurant
Newcastle International Airport has launched a new premium restaurant and bar in collaboration with SSP. Aster & Thyme replaced the Cabin Bar and increased the size of the outlet by 130%.
As part of a £20 million project to redevelop the airport's departure lounge and security screening area, the construction will create more than 20 jobs. The interior of the block is decorated in a botanical theme, with floor-to-ceiling windows giving passengers a view of the airfield. This was reported by insidermedia.com.
Dean Ward, Commercial Director of Newcastle International Airport, said: "We are delighted to launch Aster & Thyme, our brand new premium bar and restaurant, at Newcastle International Airport. Aster & Thyme embodies our commitment to providing passengers with a world-class travel experience and this stylish brasserie will be a haven for travelers to relax and enjoy the best of North East produce before their flight – all with fantastic views of the runway."
Cathy Granby, SSP's UK & Ireland Business Development Director, added: "Aster & Thyme is a great place to grab a bite to eat or a drink before your flight. We're delighted to welcome Newcastle travelers to our beautiful new bar and we're sure travelers will love this elegant new venue."
