New Zealand and Europe are leading: Australians responded on where they plan to vacation this summer
A new survey released by the Australian Tourism and Transport Forum has shown that 75% of Australians plan to go on vacation this summer. Moreover, 14% of them intend to travel abroad, which is 6.5% more than last year.
Among the destinations, New Zealand is the most popular, garnering 17% of the vote and slightly ahead of Europe (16%). Japan rounded out the top three with 10%, as reported by News Hub.
Thailand took fourth place with 6%, Singapore was fifth with 5.5%, and Malaysia was in sixth place with 5%.
Despite the popularity of visiting Indonesia, particularly Bali, among Australians, this country is only in seventh place in the survey. This position is shared by the United States, Canada, China, and Vietnam, each receiving 4% of the vote.
The survey, conducted from December 5 to 11 among Australians over the age of 18, also indicated that the period from New Year's Eve to January 15, 2024, is the most popular time to travel for 20% of respondents.
Other popular periods include Sunday, December 17, Christmas Eve, and February 1, which received 18% of the vote each.
