New roaming charges: how travelers can save money while traveling abroad
The British telecommunications company and supervisory authority Ofcom has announced that starting from October 1, 2024, mobile operators will have to provide meaningful information on costs abroad. Thus, travelers will have clear information about the restrictions and volume of traffic from the beginning of roaming.
Users are supposed to be informed how to set a spending limit and where to get help. This was reported in The Scottish Sun.
According to Ofcom's Director of Telecommunications Consumer Policy Cristina Luna-Esteban, some customers of mobile companies do not receive clear information from their operators, and therefore cannot manage their expenses and are forced to return home with "unexpected phone bills."
"Our new protection means that you will know how much it will cost when you start roaming. So you can rest assured that there will be no surprises when it comes to mobile bills while on vacation," says Christine Luna-Esteban.
