New Flight Routes Connect Dubai and Saudi Arabian Destinations
Dubai-based airline flydubai has today announced the start of new flight services to Al Jouf and Red Sea International, broadening its network within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Starting from 18 April, the airline will offer twice-weekly flights from Dubai International's Terminal 2 to these Saudi Arabian destinations.
In the context of strengthening regional connectivity, flydubai's growth strategy becomes evident as it widens its network to a remarkable count of 129 destinations in 58 countries. The carrier's announcement marks the resumption of flights to Al Jouf and the commencement of operations to Red Sea International—highlighting its mission to bolster economic and tourism development in the region.
The Chief Commercial Officer of flydubai, Hamad Obaidalla, emphasized the significance of these new routes in reinforcing the bond between the GCC countries. Obaidalla mentioned the airline's enthusiasm for the expansion and expressed gratitude towards the authorities for their support. This step is anticipated to lay a foundation for adding more frequencies on existing routes, facilitating convenient travel for more people to an increased number of places.
Flydubai's fleet, comprising 86 Boeing 737 aircraft, boasts of its youth and efficiency. This year alone, the airline has already started operations to diverse destinations such as Langkawi, Mombasa, and Penang and is set to launch flights to additional cities including Basel and Vilnius.
Red Sea International Airport, constructed to ease access to The Red Sea, a prominent tourist destination, is a testament to Saudi Arabia's vision for a luxury tourist hub. The airport welcomes visitors to luxury resorts such as the Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort, with more properties scheduled to open this year. By 2030, the Red Sea project is expected to feature 50 resorts offering a grandeur of over 8,000 hotel rooms and numerous residential properties, as well as a host of entertainment and leisure facilities.
As the new services commence, flydubai stands at the forefront of enhancing travel within the Middle East, offering passengers direct access to Saudi Arabia's burgeoning resort destinations and asserting its commitment to the region's travel and tourism landscape.
