In a significant move, MSC Cruises, the world's third-largest cruise brand, has announced the opening of a new home port in Galveston, Texas. This marks a pivotal moment in the company's ongoing expansion in the United States, with Galveston becoming the fourth home port for MSC Cruises, alongside New York City, PortMiami, and Port Canaveral.
Starting from November 2025, MSC Seascape will call Galveston its home, offering year-round sailings with seven-night itineraries featuring Sunday embarkation. The inaugural voyage is scheduled for November 9, 2025, and promises a unique experience with stops at breathtaking Caribbean destinations, including Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Isla de Roatan in Honduras.
MSC Seascape, the innovative flagship, promises an unparalleled family experience with dedicated kids' facilities spanning 7,500 square feet. Cutting-edge amusement options include the state-of-the-art ROBOTRON robotic arm ride, LEGO® rooms tailored for different age groups, VR experiences like the 360° Flight Simulator and MSC Formula Racer, catering to various age groups and interests.
Beyond the onboard attractions, MSC Cruises offers a range of shore excursions, allowing guests to explore culturally rich coastal destinations. From tours of ancient Mayan ruins to shipwreck snorkeling and adrenaline-pumping activities like VR motorcycles, the company ensures a memorable and engaging experience for all passengers.
MSC Cruises' CEO, Gianni Onorato, expressed the significance of this move, stating, "This announcement is the latest step in our strategy to continue growing our U.S footprint." He highlighted the company's commitment to bringing their newest and most innovative ships to the U.S, making them more accessible to guests in central and western parts of the country, as well as to international travelers through the well-connected Houston airport.
Onorato emphasized the company's dedication to enhancing the cruise experience, stating, "We are proud to add Galveston to that growing lineup alongside PortMiami and Port Canaveral." The expansion aligns with MSC Cruises' vision of providing diverse and immersive experiences to cruise enthusiasts.
As MSC Cruises continues to make strategic strides in the U.S market, the opening of Galveston as a home port signifies not only an expansion of routes but also a commitment to delivering top-tier cruise experiences to a broader audience.
