London has been recognized as the slowest city in the world for the second consecutive year: where else cars move slowly
For the second consecutive year, speed limits and heavy traffic in London have led experts to designate the English capital as the slowest city in the world. In areas like Greenwich, Kensington, Chelsea, and other districts, driving is possible at a speed of only 20 kilometers per hour.
According to TomTom, a location-based technology company, drivers took an average of 37 minutes and 20 seconds to cover 6.2 miles in 2023. This information is reported by Express.
Experts assessed road speeds in 387 cities across 55 countries. After the analysis, it was determined that the speed on the roads in London decreased over the year.
In 2022, cars covered this distance a minute faster, but it still marked the slowest rate. London was followed by Dublin, where the 6.2-mile trip took 29 minutes and 30 seconds.
Toronto secured the third position (29 minutes), followed by Milan (28 minutes 50 seconds), and Lima, Peru (28 minutes, 30 seconds).
TomTom pointed out that rush-hour traffic jams cost Londoners an average of £187 extra per year for gasoline.
