IndiGo Bolsters Domestic Network with Six New Summer Routes
IndiGo, India's leading carrier, is set to amplify its dominance in the domestic skies with the introduction of six new routes this summer, starting March 31. Capturing over 60% of the Indian market share, IndiGo's expansion underscores its unyielding momentum in connecting diverse regions of the country, thereby enhancing its service offerings to both leisure and business travelers.
Expanding Horizons
The new additions to IndiGo's network include routes connecting Ahmedabad to Rajkot and Aurangabad, Bhopal to Lucknow, and Indore to Varanasi. The expansion further extends with flights from Kolkata to Srinagar starting April 10, and to Jammu from April 21. Additionally, a new route connecting Kolkata to Jammu via Srinagar will commence on April 10, strategically knitting together major hubs and tourist destinations across the nation.
Catering to Growing Demand
As the vacation season looms, IndiGo's initiative is a direct response to the escalating demand for domestic travel. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expresses enthusiasm about the new routes, emphasizing the airline's commitment to facilitating more travel options within India. "We are confident that these routes will not only enhance access & travel experiences but also bolster economic ties across various states," says Malhotra, highlighting IndiGo's dedication to providing an affordable, punctual, and seamless travel experience.
Strategic Fleet Expansion
Despite facing capacity challenges with the grounded Airbus narrowbody fleet, IndiGo is adeptly navigating through by incorporating additional aircraft through short-term leases. The airline's strategic partnership with Turkish Airlines for deploying high-capacity Boeing 777s and the planned inclusion of about 20 aircraft on wet lease, including Boeing 737 MAXs from Qatar Airways, are pivotal in ensuring uninterrupted service excellence.
Strengthening International Links
In parallel to its domestic expansion, IndiGo is also broadening its international outreach. Recent launches include the Hyderabad to Bangkok route, which began on February 26, and the upcoming Bengaluru to Bali service set to start on March 29. These international routes signify IndiGo's ambition to connect India more extensively with the global travel network, catering to the wanderlust of Indian travelers.
As IndiGo gears up to introduce these new domestic routes, the airline continues to solidify its position as a cornerstone of Indian aviation, promising enhanced connectivity and travel opportunities for its passengers.
