In Montenegro, the 15-kilometer road from Lubnice to Ezerine has been reopened after repairs
The Government of Montenegro has announced the completion of a long-awaited infrastructure project. The 15-kilometer Lubnice-Jezerine road in the northeast of the country has been reopened to traffic after extensive repairs.
Initially, traffic will be allowed daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as part of a trial operation mode. This information is detailed in a report by SeeNews.
Currently, certain restrictions are in place, with heavy trucks and vehicles transporting hazardous materials prohibited from using the new road. The road features the newly constructed 2.8 km-long Klisur tunnel and an adjacent 0.98 km-long bridge.
It's noted that the project was executed in four stages, including the reconstruction of the 6.61 km-long Lubnice road, the reconstruction of the 3 km-long Jelovica road, and the construction of the Klisura tunnel and bridge. Additionally, the reconstruction of the 0.95 km-long Jezerine road has been completed.
The new Lubnice-Jezerine road is expected to reduce travel time between the cities of Kolashin and Berane by 40 minutes. Radomir Vuksanovic, Head of the Government Transport Department, made this announcement during the opening ceremony.
As a reminder, in November 2020, Montenegro secured a €26 million ($28 million) loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the overhaul of the Lubnice-Jezerine road. Prior to this, the government had obtained an EBRD loan of 5 million euros in 2013 and another 20 million euros in 2015 for the same project.
Meanwhile, UK residents have problems interpreting road signs. TravelWise previously wrote about the nuances of the icons.
