In June, Orient-Express will run from Italy to France for 2 days
I'm sure many of us have dreamed of travelling on the Orient Express, visiting its restaurant and enjoying the elements of luxury. Well, you will have this opportunity. In June 2024, an ultra-luxury train will run for two days, departing from Paris and arriving in Portofino, Italy.
According to the Mirror, the railroad company has excluded London from its list. However, it will be possible to catch the train in France. Read more about all the details of the updated trip in our article.
A new trip on the legendary train
Orient-Express will start running at 15:00 local time. The route will look like this: Dijon, Lyon and Avignon. Then on to Italy, where it ends in Santa Margherita Ligure, a town that is considered the "gateway" to Portofino at 13:00 the next day. Guests will then be transferred to the Splendido A Belmond Hotel in Portofino.
However, you need to realize that the express goes only one way. That is, you need to find your way back on your own. This can be frustrating, given the ticket prices: the starting price is from $8,525. This is for one person for three nights. If you divide it up, it's almost $14 per mile.
The treats will also surprise you as the menu is developed by the Michelin-starred chef Jean Imbert. Guests can expect a five-course tasting menu and cocktails. In the evening, you can enjoy a pianist or orchestra. Therefore, it is recommended to choose elegant clothes for such an exquisite dinner: for women, it is an evening dress, and for men, a black tie is a must.
Restaurant cars also offer expensive alcohol: delicious wines and various cocktails.
