How to turn 15 vacation days into 52 in 2024: the secret is revealed
Getting extra days for vacation is not an easy task, especially if you don't have very accommodating bosses.
However, you can legally extend your vacation. John Liang of JohnsFinanceTips shared his clever method on TikTok. He explained how everyone can take at least 54 days off next year.
It should be noted that you don't actually get more days off by following Liang's advice. Instead, he suggests a method to maximize the use of long weekends and other holidays that employers usually provide as paid vacation.
But keep in mind that this advice only works if you already have weekends and public holidays, as work schedules can sometimes be quite specific.
To start, Liang suggested taking January 2nd off to get four consecutive days off. Then he advised taking January 16th, the Tuesday after Martin Luther King Day, off to get four more days off to relax.
It's also worth asking for February 16th off to have four days off for President's Day. You'll have to wait until May to get more time off, but that's okay because, as Liang explained, you can ask for May 24th, the Friday before Memorial Day, off and get four completely free days again.
In June, if you take June 17th, 18th, 20th, and 21st off to celebrate June 16th, you will get as many as 9 days of so-called vacation.
In 2024, July 4th falls on a Thursday, so if you take Friday, July 5th, off, you'll get four more days in a row.
In September, you can also request a day off on Tuesday, September 3rd, the day after Labor Day. In October, you can simply enjoy the long weekend of Indigenous Peoples' Day without requesting any extra time off.
Then, on November 11th, the United States celebrates Veterans Day, which will last three more days. And if you ask for the Friday after Thanksgiving (November 29th), you'll get four more days off in a row.
Finally, in December, you can get nine more consecutive days off simply by requesting December 23rd-24th and December 26th-27th for Christmas.
"My biggest tip," he added, "is to try to get those requests in early".
