Flying in comfort: which American airlines offer the most legroom
It's no secret that every inch of space on an airplane is crucial for the comfort of passengers and the movement of the cabin crew. Adequate seat space is among the most significant factors for a pleasant flight, and some American airlines are well aware of this.
Even in economy class, comfort can be achieved if the airline utilizes aircraft with sufficient space for each traveler. A recent study by Upgraded Points determined which airlines provide aircraft cabins that make passengers feel spacious.
To calculate the average legroom for each airline, experts analyzed planes on the 10 busiest domestic routes, taking into account the distance between a point on one seat and the same point on the seat in front of it.
JetBlue Airways took the lead with 32.3 inches, thanks to its spacious Airbus A320 and A321 models that offer ample room for passengers.
In the second spot was Southwest Airlines, providing an average of 31.8 inches of space for passengers.
Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines shared the third position, offering 31 inches of legroom for their customers.
American Airlines secured the fifth spot with measurements of approximately 31 inches.
