Etihad Airways Achieves Remarkable Dual Aircraft Pilot Qualification

Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has once again set a benchmark in the aviation industry by enabling its pilots to operate both the Airbus A350 and A380 aircraft. This achievement marks Etihad as one of the first airlines worldwide to offer such a versatile skill set to its pilots, underscoring its dedication to innovation and operational excellence.

In the realm of commercial aviation, pilots are typically qualified to fly only one type of aircraft due to the complexities and specific requirements of each model. However, Etihad has successfully navigated the challenging regulatory landscape to secure approvals for Mixed Fleet Flying (MFF). This program allows pilots to fly two similar aircraft types, provided there is a high similarity in flight deck design, pilot procedures, and after undergoing specialized training. The MFF is endorsed by both the aircraft manufacturer and the Civil Aviation Authority, ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
