Emirates Elevates Ramadan Experience for Fasting Passengers
Reflecting the spirit of togetherness and generosity synonymous with the Holy Month of Ramadan, Emirates is enhancing its services to cater to fasting passengers with an array of thoughtful offerings. Onboard and at select boarding gates, passengers will be greeted with thousands of special meal boxes designed to break the fast, including traditional delicacies and refreshments. These boxes, available from 11 March across all cabin classes to select destinations, are inspired by the rich Emirati heritage and include a nutritionally balanced selection of light bites and sweet treats alongside the essential dates and laban.
At Dubai International Airport, the Emirates lounges will serve an array of traditional Arabic sweets, dates, and coffee, with meals in the First and Business Class lounges featuring hot and cold Arabic mezze, lentil soup, main courses such as Arabic mixed grill and chicken kabsa, and a variety of desserts including kunafa pistachio cream and walnut kathayef ashta. The lounges also provide dedicated prayer rooms and ablution facilities, ensuring a peaceful environment for worship.
To assist fasting customers in marking iftar time with precision, Emirates employs a unique tool that calculates the correct timing for imsak and iftar based on the aircraft's location, with the captain making an official announcement at sunset. Additionally, special religious content and popular TV shows will be featured on Emirates' inflight entertainment system, ice, catering to the spiritual and entertainment needs of passengers.
Supporting pilgrims traveling to Jeddah and Medina for Umrah, Emirates will serve Ramadan boxes on these flights and allow passengers to check in a bottle of Islamic holy water ‘ZAMZAM’. The airline also conducts Ramadan awareness training for its cabin crew and ground teams, ensuring that all employees are equipped to provide the highest levels of service and understand the cultural significance of this time.
