Direct train to Slovakia's airport will be launched from Kyiv
The Government of the Slovak Republic has supported the proposal to introduce a direct train service between Kyiv and Kosice.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.
According to Denis Žilakov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic, the route will serve, in particular, to enable more Ukrainians to use the services of the international airport in Kosice.
It is noted that the train will travel from Kyiv to Haniska station near Kosice via the Pavlovo – Matovske Vojkovce border crossing.
Currently, organizational and preparatory work is underway to launch the route. Equipment for border and customs control is being installed, the platform at Haniska station near Košice is being changed, and bus connections to the airport and Košice railway station are being prepared. They also have to sign a transportation services agreement with Slovak Railways and find funding.
As TravelWise reported earlier, Ukraine was included in the Mediterranean Rail Corridor.
