Cyprus has simplified conditions for talented foreigners who do not hold EU citizenship
The Cabinet of Ministers of Cyprus has approved the introduction of the EU Blue Card system. The aim of the innovation is to simplify the process of hiring talented individuals who do not hold EU citizenship.
Candidates for the Blue Card can be individuals with higher education (in any field of the economy and with a minimum of 3 years of study) or managers and specialists in the field of information and communication technologies with at least 7 years of experience (they do not need a diploma), Mirror reports.
The draft law sets the salary threshold for issuing a Blue Card at between 1 and 1.6 times the average gross salary of an EU member state. In 2022, the average salary in Cyprus was €1,700.
Blue Card
This is a residence permit that grants the right to work in Europe. It can only be obtained by specialists with a profession in demand in the EU and high qualifications. The residence permit is issued for the duration of the employment contract from 1 to 4 years with the possibility of extension.
Currently, the Blue Card can be obtained in all EU countries except Ireland and Denmark. The UK, which has left the European Union, also does not offer this option.
