Borovets, Bulgaria
This resort under the Musala Mountain has been operating since the late 19th century. There are 58 km of pistes for both beginners and intermediate skiers. People like to hold parties here with inexpensive alcohol and entertainment.
You can stay here in hotels or apartments for about 300 euros per week. In addition, in high season, prices for ski passes are about 178 euros for 6 days. The place can be reached from Sofia by various means of transport or a 30-euro transfer in just 90 minutes.
Vogel, Slovenia
The cosy resort of Vogel is located under the Triglav Mountain. Tourists can try skiing on 22 kilometres of pistes of varying difficulty. Although this resort is not the largest in Europe, it can offer beautiful views of the Julian Alps and access to other picturesque places in Slovenia that are up to 1 hour away, namely Lake Bohinj and the famous Lake Bled.
Local houses located near the ski lifts will cost visitors about 75 euros per room for two people. The maximum cost of a ski pass here is about 188 euros for 5 days. The resort can be reached in a 90-minute drive from Ljubljana Airport, but a train ride to Bohinjska Bistrica will be cheaper.
Sauze d'Oulx, Italy
This resort is located in the vast ski area of Via Lattea. Its length is 440 kilometres, stretching on the border between France and Italy. Most of the trails of varying difficulty are located on the Italian side. Here you can taste local Piedmontese wine, polenta with rabbit, fried vegetables and other dishes of northern Italy.
You can stay here for 7 days for 600 euros. The maximum price for ski passes is 212 euros for 6 days. The resort can be reached in 90 minutes from Sauze d'Oulx, an Italian municipality in the Piedmont region, via a shuttle service. The road from the airport will cost 40 euros, but there are cheaper options: by bus to Porta Nuova and then by train to the Oulx station.
Jasná Nízke Tatry, Slovakia
Jasna offers 49 kilometres of ski runs on the 2024-metre-high Chopok Mountain. For those who enjoy skiing, there are 20 high-speed lifts, a freeride area, and night skiing. In addition, you can try local cuisine, such as dumplings with sheep cheese and bacon and drink Zlatý Bažant beer, which will cost guests about 10 euros. You can also go on excursions and visit an authentic 14th-century village.
The cost of a ski pass will start at 154 euros 274 euros for night skiing for six days. Accommodation in a double room per night costs from 100 euros. You can get there for 10 euros from Poprad Tatry Airport by direct transfer or by private car starting from 30 euros per person. Taxis, trains, and buses can also take you to the resort for up to 10 euros through Liptovsky Mikulas.
