Bali introduced an entry tax for tourists: how much will you have to pay
Starting February 14, foreign tourists will have to pay a fee of 150,000 rupiah (about $9.6) to enter Bali, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
The money from the tax will be used to protect the island's environment and culture. The tax is paid by foreign tourists entering the province from abroad or other parts of the country, except for domestic Indonesian tourists, the BBC reports.
Bali is known for its pristine beaches and surfing waves, as well as beautiful scenery. According to official figures, almost 4.8 million tourists visited the island from January to November last year.
Australia was the largest source of foreign tourists to Bali. This is followed by tourists from India, China and Singapore.
