American Airlines, Dallas Mavericks, and Nick & Sam’s Host Memorable 17th Seats for Soldiers Night
In a heartfelt tribute to the nation's military heroes, American Airlines, the Dallas Mavericks, and Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse recently celebrated their 17th annual 'Seats for Soldiers' night. This remarkable event was marked by a series of memorable experiences, specifically organized to honor over 100 service members, including those wounded, ill, or injured from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, and soldiers from the Texas Army National Guard.
The day began with a special gesture from American Airlines, which provided charter transportation for the service members from San Antonio to Dallas Fort Worth. Notably, this transport featured volunteer pilots and flight attendants from American Airlines, showcasing the company's commitment to honoring the nation’s heroes. David Seymour, American’s Chief Operating Officer and an Army veteran, shared his pride in being part of this long-standing tradition that brings together teams and partners to celebrate and honor military service members.
Upon arrival in Dallas, the service members were treated to an exceptional dining experience at Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse. The evening featured a three-course meal, including premium dishes like Allen Brother filet mignon and "Salt n Pepper" Scottish Salmon. The dinner concluded with a special Dallas Mavericks seven-layer cake and ice cream, a gesture that highlighted the importance of the occasion. The staff at Nick & Sam’s volunteered for the event, ensuring that the service members enjoyed a meal of gratitude and appreciation.
An interesting aspect of the 'Seats for Soldiers' night is its origin. Dallas Mavericks season ticket holders Neal and Jamie Hawks conceptualized this event. They, along with other front-row ticket holders, have consistently donated their seats to host the service members. This year, the event expanded with the Mavericks opening up more seats for donation, resulting in over 400 additional seats provided to military members through Vet Tix, signifying a deepening of community involvement and support.
The event culminated with the service members enjoying courtside seats at the Dallas Mavericks versus Orlando Magic game at American Airlines Center, followed by a special meet-and-greet with the Mavericks players and entertainers. Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate and honor the service members, acknowledging their sacrifices that enable others to enjoy such events.
The 17th annual 'Seats for Soldiers' night not only provided a day of joy and recognition for the service members but also reinforced the importance of community support for the nation's heroes, creating a lasting impact on all those involved.
