AirAsia Revives Kuala Lumpur-Pattaya Flights, Boosting Thai Tourism
AirAsia Malaysia, identified by its flight code AK, is thrilled to announce the resumption of its Kuala Lumpur to Pattaya route, set to begin with thrice-weekly flights starting 17 June 2024. This eagerly anticipated comeback not only reinstates Pattaya as a prime destination within AirAsia's network but also marks the airline's ninth direct connection to Thailand from Kuala Lumpur, following routes to destinations such as Bangkok, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Hatyai.
This strategic move aligns seamlessly with AirAsia’s recent ‘Takeover Thailand’ campaign, aimed at showcasing Thailand, the 'Land of Smiles,' as a top travel choice for individuals from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and other countries. Pattaya, recognized as Thailand’s eighth largest city, is renowned for its diverse attractions ranging from the serene Koh Larn beaches to the vibrant Pattaya Floating Market, offering a plethora of experiences for both domestic and international visitors. The airline's history of facilitating over 60,000 journeys between Kuala Lumpur and Pattaya in 2019 underscores the route's popularity.
Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, expressed enthusiasm about reconnecting Kuala Lumpur with Thailand's eastern Gulf coast, highlighting the route as the sole direct link to Pattaya. He emphasized the broader goal of enhancing accessibility to second-tier cities like Pattaya, noting that nearly 2.7 million passengers traveled between Malaysia and Thailand in 2023. Lingam is confident that the reinstated service will significantly contribute to an increase in travel between the two nations, further solidifying the success of the 'Takeover Thailand' campaign.
In celebration of this route's revival, AirAsia has introduced special promotional fares, starting from RM99* for one-way flights from Kuala Lumpur and THB990* for one-way flights from Pattaya, applicable for bookings made until 24 March 2024. These promotional rates, valid for travel from 17 June 2024 to 16 June 2025, are available on airasia.com and through the AirAsia MOVE platform, formerly known as the airasia Superapp. This initiative not only signifies a significant step in revitalizing the travel sector post-pandemic but also highlights AirAsia’s commitment to offering affordable and accessible travel options to its customers.
