Air India launches comprehensive pilot training program
Air India, recognized as one of the leading airlines in India and a national carrier, has announced the launch of a comprehensive flight training program for novice pilots. In addition, the airline announced training opportunities for flight attendants, ground staff, security personnel, and engineers.
However, the main focus of this initiative is the Fly High Pilot Cadet program, specially designed for pilot training. This is reported by travelandtourworld.com.
The program is targeted at Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 who speak English at a high level, are in good health, and have good academic performance, offering them a pathway to pilot training for Air India's growing fleet. Selected candidates will begin their journey by attending a ground school in India and then undergo flight training at the AeroGuard Flight Training Center in Phoenix, Arizona, or the L3Harris Group campus in Sanford, Florida, USA.
After completing their training in the US and receiving their Commercial Pilot License (CPL), the aspiring pilots will return to India to join Air India's new training academy in Gurgaon. Here, they will be trained on simulators to meet specific aircraft type requirements before being qualified as an Air India commercial pilot. Air India is committed to maintaining high standards for its graduate pilots, as stated on its official website.
According to ch-aviation, with a fleet of 143 aircraft and an unprecedented order for 484 additional aircraft, Air India's ambitious expansion plan includes the acquisition of 70 Airbus A320neo, 140 A321neo, 20 A350-900 and 20 A350-1000 aircraft, with modifications made in December 2023.
Boeing's fleet expansion includes 190 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, 20 Boeing 787 aircraft, and ten new 777X aircraft. These modern aircraft, equipped with advanced cockpits with multifunctional displays, onboard computers, and projection displays, require a significant number of pilots, especially for long-haul flights that require multiple pilots.
This initiative by Air India will have a significant impact on the travel sector from its inception to its culmination. By adding well-trained professionals to its pilot ranks, Air India intends to increase its operational capabilities, thereby increasing the frequency and destinations of its flights.
This expansion is expected to facilitate access to and from India, contributing to the growth of international and domestic travel. The addition of modern aircraft to the fleet will not only enhance the travel experience but will also position Air India as a competitive player on the global stage, contributing to the growth of the travel industry.
