Air Canada plane makes an emergency landing due to depressurization in the cabin
An Air Canada Rouge airplane en route from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to Toronto Pearson International Airport was forced to abort its flight. The reason was depressurization of the cabin.
The crew sent an "SOS" signal, after which they successfully landed in Punta Cana without any injuries or damage. According to Simple Flying, the malfunction was noticed after 40 minutes of flight.
When the plane reached 10,000 feet in altitude, a depressurization occurred. The pilots decided to descend to an altitude of 5,000 feet so that the crew could identify the fault and try to fix it.
However, when it became clear that the crew members could not do it alone, the plane turned around and flew in the opposite direction.
Already at the airport, it was discovered that there was a malfunction of the exhaust valve that controls the pressure in the cabin.
Engineers replaced the valve, and the next day the plane took off from Punta Cana to Toronto. The plane returned to normal operation the same day.
