The writer-traveler has completely renounced flights and finds ways to travel without airplanes
Carlton Reed, a travel writer, earns his living by traveling, but he has completely stopped flying.
His last flight was in March 2020, when he was returning from Israel on a group press tour to Palestine. Now he travels everywhere by bicycle, train, and electric car, as reported by the Daily Mail.
"Not flying has resulted in an immediate and significant reduction in carbon emissions. I still travel to exotic places. For example, I have traveled by high-speed trains and ferries to Malta and Ibiza," Carlton said.
It's evident that the availability of affordable airline tickets has made air travel convenient for many, but there's an environmental cost associated with it, measured in CO2 emissions, which contributes to climate change.
"We must decrease our annual emissions, and while not everyone can completely eliminate air travel, more long-distance journeys could and should be undertaken by alternative means," the author of the article concluded.
