Like all tropical countries, India has its own rules and warnings for tourists during the period of heavy rains from June to September. When you have already studied all the information about a visa to India, it is worth familiarising yourself with the rules of conduct during the monsoon period to make your holiday as safe as possible.

The places to visit near Mumbai have general warnings and are consistent with the safety rules for staying in the country.

  • Be prepared for a very humid and hot climate, even during the monsoon
  • Do not go on excursions on your own, without a guide or without familiarising yourself with your intended route
  • Be careful with the traffic on the roads, it can be very chaotic and not subject to any established rules, especially in small towns
  • Make sure that your luggage is properly packed for the rainy season and has all the necessary items (raincoat, umbrella, waterproof shoes)
  • Do not eat questionable food on the street, use recommendations and trust your sense of smell
  • Do not agree to excursions of random people, contact travel agencies or hotel staff directly
  • Take care of currency exchange in advance, as there are very few outlets in the towns, and you may not be able to get to them during the rainy season. Do not use the services of private individuals
  • Don't drink raw water and maintain good hygiene. Raw vegetables are not the best food option
  • Read the rules of conduct in temples in advance, take an extra pair of socks or shoe covers
  • Choose modest clothes when going out of the hotel, do not forget that you are a guest in India, and not vice versa.
