From 14 November 2025, Bratislava’s M. R. Štefánik Airport will host a new base operated by Wizz Air. Two Airbus A321neo aircraft, each with 239 seats, will be stationed in the Slovak capital, enabling the launch of 12 new scheduled routes to different parts of Europe. This development will broaden the airport’s network of destinations and provide travellers from Slovakia with an increased number of direct flight options.

The new destinations will cover regions in southern, northern and eastern Europe, including areas that have not previously had regular air connections with Bratislava. Some services will run several times per week, while others will be available daily. The schedule will also restore certain links that have been absent from the airport’s timetable for many years, providing more varied choices for both leisure and business travel.

Several of the newly added routes lead to cities with lively neighbourhoods to explore and elevated spots that provide sweeping views of the surroundings. In Athens, the Monastiraki district offers traditional markets and local food, while Lycabettus Hill provides a wide panorama over the city. Alicante’s old quarter, with its narrow streets and characteristic houses, is close to Postiguet Beach, a чcentral coastal area suited for walks. In Barcelona, lively La Rambla offers a bustling street scene, while the terraces of Park Güell rise above the city, giving wide views of the surrounding area.

Some of the new routes connect Bratislava to places with a mix of different landscapes and a clear sense of local character. In Malaga, Gibralfaro Castle sits on a hill with views of the harbour and coastline, while Muelle Uno is a waterfront promenade with open spaces for walking. In Basel, the banks of the Rhine are a favoured place for walks, with paths by the water framed by the green spaces of the Botanical Garden. In Oslo, Aker Brygge is a lively harbour promenade by the water, while the Holmenkollen ski jump stands high above the city with views of the surrounding fjords.

With more destinations now on the schedule, travellers can expect fewer layovers and shorter overall journeys to their final stop. Having coastal resorts, cultural hubs and notable city sights all easily accessible means travellers can put together varied trips starting from the same airport. This expansion also reinforces Bratislava Airport’s position in regional and international air travel, making it a more significant link between Slovakia and the rest of Europe.
