Emirates recorded particularly high family demand in Economy Class, with January standing out as the busiest booking month for this group. In 2025, Economy travellers made up 84% of all bookings, while families and group travel accounted for 64% of passengers flying in the cabin. Booking data also shows that most family and group trips were confirmed several months before departure.
Booking patterns show clear seasonal behaviour. More than 65% of group trips were reserved at least three months in advance, while a similar share of family bookings was confirmed two months before travel. Popular destinations included Dubai, Jeddah, Medina, Istanbul and Rome for groups, while families favoured Dubai, Bangkok, Jeddah, Malé and Mauritius, reflecting a mix of city breaks, leisure resorts and religious travel.
Looking into 2026, Emirates expects these trends to continue, particularly as the UAE has designated the year as the "Year of the Family". Bookings closely follow school holiday calendars, with spring and summer trips largely secured in January. Another wave of reservations is expected later in the year, covering autumn and winter travel periods across the airline’s long-haul network.
