WestJet Expands Winter Service to Sunny Destinations

The WestJet Group has announced a significant expansion of its winter service, introducing new flights to Tulum, Mexico, and Grenada in the Caribbean for the 2024/2025 season. These additions strengthen WestJet's extensive leisure network, enhancing options for Canadian travelers seeking sun destinations.

This winter, WestJet will also launch new transborder flights to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from Vancouver and Winnipeg. John Weatherill, Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that these new routes reinforce WestJet's strategy to lead as Canada’s primary leisure airline, providing more seat capacity to sunny locales than any other carrier in the country.

Starting November 9, 2024, WestJet will operate weekly flights from Calgary and Toronto to Tulum's new international airport. Additionally, Kelowna will see service to Mazatlán, and Winnipeg to Los Cabos. This broadens WestJet's reach within Mexico and offers more travel options to Canadians.

From November 3, 2024, WestJet will begin a weekly service from Toronto to Grenada. This route offers Canadians a new opportunity to explore the island's famous spices, beaches, and waterfalls. Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, expressed enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting the benefits of increased accessibility for Canadian tourists.

In addition to these new routes, WestJet continues to enhance its year-round services. The airline will maintain daily flights from Edmonton to Atlanta and Regina to Minneapolis, with additional connections from Edmonton to Ottawa and Montreal, and from Winnipeg to Montreal.
