WestJet Expands Winter Flights, Unlocking New Warm-Weather Destinations for Travelers
WestJet unveiled its winter 2025/2026 schedule, adding flights to five new international destinations including Panama City, Guadalajara, Tepic, Havana, and Managua. From December 2025 through April 2026, these new services will run as the airline strengthens its footprint across Latin America and the Caribbean. While the total number of flights will increase by three percent compared to last winter, overall seat capacity remains stable due to cabin reconfigurations.
In addition to introducing new destinations, WestJet will:
- Resume several previously seasonal routes
- Increase flight frequency on select routes
- Offer daily service from Calgary to Tokyo
The updated schedule includes 305 routes to 62 sun-soaked destinations, improving links between North America and favored warm-weather spots.
Visitors to Panama can explore the San Blas Islands, a chain of more than 300 islands known for clear waters and the distinctive culture of the Guna Yala people. From Tepic, visitors can reach La Tovara National Park, which is celebrated for its mangroves and diverse animal life seen on boat excursions. Managua is the gateway to Masaya Volcano, where it is possible to safely witness an active crater with smoke and glowing lava, especially captivating as evening falls.
Visitors landing in Havana can head to Viñales Valley, renowned for its unique karst formations and large tobacco plantations. Near Guadalajara, the Tequila Express train offers a scenic journey through agave fields, paired with traditional food and drink experiences. Liberia in Costa Rica provides access to Rincón de la Vieja National Park, which offers hiking trails, volcanic hot springs, and waterfalls.
This expansion provides travelers with more options beyond typical tourist hotspots, opening access to natural wonders and cultural experiences less frequented by mass tourism. The expanded network allows travelers to discover unique natural settings and true regional charms during the winter months. These updates create new opportunities for travelers worldwide to discover distinctive and less crowded places when winter arrives.
