SAS Scandinavian Airlines will increase the number of flights between Vilnius and Copenhagen at the start of the winter aviation season in October. The carrier plans to operate up to four flights per day on weekdays, adding one extra service compared with the previous winter schedule. Weekend frequencies remain unchanged, with three daily flights on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for the additional weekday service are already available for booking.

The airline says the route helps keep Lithuania connected with Scandinavia, with Copenhagen continuing to serve as an important transfer airport in the region. The hub provides access to onward flights to cities across Europe, Asia and the United States. The winter schedule keeps regular flight options available for those travelling between the Baltic region and major international destinations.

Lithuanian Airports representatives note that regular winter flights can support both business and leisure trips. The Vilnius–Copenhagen service complements existing SAS flights from Palanga Airport, where the airline continues to operate two daily departures throughout the year. Together, these routes help maintain steady links between Lithuania and the airline’s broader international network via Copenhagen.

Key Destinations Accessible via Copenhagen

  • Oslo
  • Paris
  • Amsterdam
  • New York
  • Tokyo
  • Bangkok

More departures make connections through Copenhagen easier to organise, opening access to a wide network of destinations across Europe, Asia and the United States. The airport is commonly used as a transfer point for both short European city breaks and longer intercontinental journeys. A broader choice of flight times also helps travellers better align connections during the winter travel season.

“Aviation plays an important role in connecting people, businesses, and societies across regions. With the increased frequency between Copenhagen and Vilnius, SAS is strengthening connectivity between Lithuania and Scandinavia while continuing to develop Copenhagen as our global hub – linking Scandinavia with the world and the world with Scandinavia through punctual and dependable service."
Henrik Winell, Vice President Network at SAS

The schedule change shows how airlines adjust frequencies on routes where connecting traffic remains stable throughout the year. More departure options help shorten waiting times between flights and make connections easier to coordinate. The update also confirms Copenhagen’s position as an important transfer airport linking Lithuania with a broad international network during the winter travel period.
