Vienna and Frankfurt Get Easier from Cluj
AnimaWings is now operating direct flights linking Cluj-Napoca with Vienna and Frankfurt, giving Transylvania non-stop access to two of Europe’s largest business and aviation centres. The Romanian carrier is using the routes to strengthen Cluj as a regional base, with services aimed at city-break visitors, corporate travellers, Romanian communities abroad and passengers continuing beyond Austria or Germany on international connections.

Vienna is expected to draw demand for short business trips, events, international organisations and cultural breaks, while Frankfurt serves one of Europe’s main finance, corporate and exhibition markets. The German route also supports journeys made by Romanian communities living abroad. AnimaWings says the two services are part of a wider push to make Cluj one of its principal regional hubs.
Vienna becomes easier to reach for breaks built around Schönbrunn Palace, the Hofburg, St Stephen’s Cathedral and the MuseumsQuartier. Frankfurt adds a direct option for the Römerberg, the Main Tower, the Städel Museum and the museum embankment. Both airports also serve as major connecting points, so the routes may work for longer journeys without an extra European stopover when onward timings line up.
With only two flights a week, the timetable will not work for every trip, but it is well suited to a long weekend or a short business visit. Flying direct also saves passengers a change in Bucharest or elsewhere in Europe. Vienna is the stronger option for a cultural break, while Frankfurt offers easier access to Germany and onward flights, provided separate tickets are booked with enough time between them.
