A calmer weather pattern has settled across the United Kingdom following last week's exceptional heat, bringing temperatures back to seasonal levels for most areas. Forecasters expect generally settled conditions throughout much of the current week before another period of warmer weather develops early next week. While some regions could once again meet heatwave criteria, current forecasts indicate that the upcoming event should be less intense than the recent spell of extreme heat and humidity.

The weather is expected to become more changeable from Tuesday into the middle of the week, with showers and longer periods of rain affecting mainly northern and western parts of the country while southern and southeastern areas remain mostly dry and warm. By the weekend, high pressure is forecast to strengthen across much of the UK, allowing temperatures to climb into the upper twenties Celsius, with parts of southeast England potentially reaching around thirty degrees.

How to Plan Your Trip This Week

The changing forecast means plans may need to be adjusted depending on the destination. Those visiting northern or western parts of the UK should:

  • carry a waterproof jacket or umbrella in case of heavy showers;
  • allow extra travel time where thunderstorms could affect local transport;
  • check the latest local weather forecast before leaving, as conditions may vary between regions.

By the second half of the week, much of southern England and Wales is expected to stay drier, giving visitors better conditions for sightseeing, walking tours and day trips.

The return of warmer weather also means travellers should prepare for higher temperatures during weekend trips. Carrying enough drinking water, wearing lightweight clothing, using sun protection and planning outdoor activities for the morning or later afternoon can make journeys more comfortable. Visitors travelling by car or public transport should also be prepared for hotter conditions as temperatures rise, especially across southern parts of the country where the warmest weather is expected.

The latest forecast offers encouraging news for people planning to explore the United Kingdom over the coming days. Although some unsettled weather is expected before the weekend, the outlook points to improving conditions across much of the country and a return of summer warmth without matching the extremes seen previously. This means staying flexible with daily plans while taking simple precautions that allow them to enjoy better weather as it develops.
